One of the top priorities of everyone today is staying beautiful. Ads on TV, books, articles, newspapers and just about every other aspect is filled with advertisements about the “fountain of youth” and beauty secrets to fight the signs of aging. The Obagi System was designed to go beyond just temporarily fixing the signs of unhealthy skin.
The Obagi System was developed by dermatologists and is stronger than over the counter products. It is a very high quality product. The System contains 6 different steps to follow. It is designed to correct underlying skin problems and also generate healthy, new skin cells to combat the signs of aging in addition to acne blemishes and make the skin appear glowing and resilient.
What does the System accomplish?
As we age, the cells break down due to environmental factors such as UV Rays, pollution, and other external factors. The Obagi System is designed to stimulate growth cells and in addition, help your skin build up a defense against these external, environmental factors.
How does the System work?
The system contains a six-step process that is relatively easy to learn. Each product has a step number on it and also shows whether it is to be used during the day or during the night. The Obagi System is formulated to accelerate cell turnover, reduce hyperpigmentation of the skin, and very importantly, increase collagen and elastin production. Everyone seems to be troubled by age spots and dark circles, which these products are intended to, eliminate age spots and dark circles. In the end, your skin should be stronger and healthier.
Anyone can benefit from the use of Obagi. The Obagi System could be the solution for anyone who has issues such as damaged skin from the sun, fine lines or wrinkles, acne and acne scares, or overall wants a healthier more glowing complexion.
Before using any products, it is best to consult the advice of your dermatologist. If any redness or irritation occurs be sure to mention this to your doctor and adhere to their recommendations and advice.

I started getting acne when I was about 13, 14 years old. I’m now 17 and over the years I’ve been given numerous medication such as Retin-A Micro, Benacyclin, Tetrycyclin, some pills that I cannot remember the name of, and also some pads called Tazorac or something like that. The Benacyclin helped a little with stopping breakouts but, it didn’t help my scarring. My dermatologist mentioned Accutane as a suitable treatment for me but, I didn’t want that because I’ve heard it doesn’t get rid of scarring. I went a few weeks ago and had microdermabrasion done and I’ve been on a 3 step system called Obagi for a month now but, I don’t really see any results. I am supposed to have about 5 more microdermabrasion sessions and they said maybe a chemical peel. My question is: Should I go on Accutane or continue the microdermabrasion? I want to keep my acne under control but, get RID of scars too; home remedies do not work for me.
have you tried tea tree oil??? if that doesn’t work, then you should see a dermatologist. But remember that appearance should come after health, and all the meds you’ve been taking could affect your health later in life.

Do I need to start with the 0.025% even if I don’t have sensitive skin? Or can I start using the 0.05% right away for quicker results? I will be using it with the Obagi Nu-Derm system.
If you don’t have sensitive skin, you can start with the higher strength. And, if u find that you are having peeling issues, then stay with that strength, but cut back on the dosage schedule, perhaps to every other nite instead of nitely.

oook! so I am using retin-a…and the obagi system. My skin is in the phase of peeling…its red, very flaky…UGH! Im going out tonight and dont know what to do makeup wise!! its like I try everything…but nothing works!! My skin is so flaky and dry..even using moisturizer makes a mess of things!! What can I do!?? HELPPP! I use jane iredale makeup which is GREAT and covers amazingly but its difficult when your skin is this way..will take any advice you give thanks!
Try a tinted moisturizer. You dont want to use a makeup that will accent on the dryness.

I am 43 and have breakouts when I am PMSing, I would like to know it Obagi system will help with the breakouts?
For moderate acne, it will work. But you will have to continually go in for treatments. If your acne only flares up around you period time–antibiotics from the derm will really help along with a good cleanisng routine, such as the one below:
#1 Cleanse face with product such as Advantage Clean & Clear Cleanser or Neutragena Oil free Acne Wash
(I add a little dot of Clean and Clear acne scrub to the cleanser) Rinse all off when completed.
#2 Oxy 10 pads after cleaning to get off all final residue
#3 Neutragena Clear Pore Eliminating Astringent
#4 Clean and Clear Acne cream with Benzoyl Peroxide
#5 Neutragena Oil-free Anti acne moisturizer (only if you need it.)
Do this morning and night. Always use non clogging, oil-free makeup as well.
If your acne is not cystic, this you should be fine. If you have cystic acne then you will need to go to the dermatologist and have him put you on Accutane. There is no need for anyone have permanent scarring when this great product is available.
Accutane is the ONLY cure. It actually strips the pores internally stopping the excessive oil production.
I put all three of my kids on Accutane the minute they started breaking out. I did not want them to have the scars on their faces like I STILL have on my face from cystic acne.
You will still need to use the cleaning regime after completing Accutane.
Hope this helps
I have been using the product for 2 weeks and love it. My undereye circles have almost disappeared, and my acne scarring and sunspots are fading (but still visible). I’m using .05 tretinoin with blender at night only, and also elastiderm eye cream.
My derm told me to use it for 12 weeks, but I possibly would not need it that long. How do you know when to stop using the nu-derm system? What products can I expect to use for maintenence?
My peeling now isn’t bad as long as I do not wear any makeup – will I be able to wear foundation again?
Obagi products like sun fader, blender and clearhave 4% hydroquinone in them which cannot be used for over 4-6 months usually so after your 12 or so weeks your best using the cleanser toner and sunblock and the blender with retin a (tretinoin) about twice a week for maintenance only. you could consider some skin treatments like a mild lactic acid peel or deep pore cleansing facials every turn of the season to keep the skin "glowing"… otherwise after the hydroquinone products are used up stick with the simple portion of your obagi program.Remember to use sunblock everydayas retin a and hydroquinone make your skin very very photo sensitive!
o the makeup thing should getbetter … they sell something also called exfoderm thathelps control the peeling,,, alos try minerla makeup thathas natural sunblock in it for added protection ie like jane iredale or la bella donna mineral makeup
My dermatologist prescribed me hydroquinone cream for some melasma on my face. Has anyone used this? How did you get maximum results? What products did you use along with it? I was thinking of trying the Obagi system.
I have the same problem; hydroquinone has never really worked for me. I have tried a bunch of different products some pricey and others not. I just started using oil of olay targeted tone enhancer and I like it. I also try to do a few microdermabrasions and or glycolic peels a couple times a month. And I always wear sunscreen. Let me know if you find any "miracle creams".

i am 23 and still have bad acne. I have been on accutane 3 times and it helps while im on it then slowly the acne comes back, I have also used the Obagi skin care systems and I am currently undergoing chemical peel treatments. However I am curious what foods have high antioxidants to help my skin??? So anyone with any reccomendations on foods that might help me or any advice I would greatly appreciate it!
Garlic is really good for your skin. Drink a lot of water too, cuz it helps flush out the toxins. Dark chocolate actually has a lot of antioxidants in it too. As far as acne goes in general, i’ve had it for years too, mine hasn’t gone away. I’ve found that the kits do help a lot, like acnefree, clean and clear advantage. avon just came out with a new one called clearskin professional, and it works good. I kno this sounds stupid but you would be surprised how many people don’t do it. Just by do a skin care regimen twice a day would and should help. make sure that if you wear makeup you get the ones that don’t clog pores. I like covergirls clean makeup oil control, it’s for people with oily skin. and since acne is caused by bacteria, use a makeup sponge to apply makeup because your fingers have bacteria on them, and it could make your acne worse. I like oil control sheets as well. they don’t take off ur makeup or anything like that, just the excess oil that’s on your skin.
Good luck and I hope I helped!
